You Are Here is a community art show about place, home and belonging, created through public art workshops as a part of the Branscombe House Artist Residency.
Through personal map making, mixed media, assemblage and collage, community members in Richmond B.C. worked together to explore how we create and define home and community. This project delved into the process of arrival in a new house and neighbourhood, asking the questions: What is this place? Who lives here? What is its history? How do I fit here? Collaborative art projects examined these questions from a variety of angles, using maps as canvasses to express individual interpretations of the landscape, working with archival photos as art material to engage with local history, and setting out on artist walks to observe, document and celebrate the overlooked details of the neighbourhood. Created by Keely O'Brien, in collaboration with community members. Presented at Doors Open Richmond. June 2018. |
