Any Day Now
Territorial Acknowledgement
Any Day Now is occurring site-responsively on the traditional territories of the the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ speaking peoples. In territorial acknowledgment I have created and installed a lantern depicting indigenous plants of this area, including sword fern, red alder, braken, yarrow, licorice fern, and oregon grape. As the house lanterns in this project echo the recent past of each site, this Territorial Acknowledgement Lantern gestures towards the landscape’s longer history of colonial claiming and displacement.
With the intention of offering a territorial acknowledgment which has a tangible impact in support of Indigenous communities, I have created a limited edition set of two art prints which were sold by donation. All proceeds have been donated Indian Residential School Survivors Society. Thank you to those who purchased a print set.
